COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

26.11.2008The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection hosted today a study group of professors and students of the University at Buffalo Law School, New York. Emphasizing that the visit was interesting and useful, Deputy Commissioner Stanojla Mandic, who admitted the study group, said the following:

"The study group of American law professors and students was interested in positive experiences and progress in establishing of the rule of the law in transitional and post-conflict countries. Within that context, experiences and results of the activities of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance of the Republic of Serbia were very interesting to them. As early as at the end of last year they expressed a wish to visit us, and they did so on this occasion.

Since this is a visit of the study group from the USA, i.e. the country which achieved very high results in exercising the right to free access to information of public importance, I am really very pleased because they noticed the activities of Serbian Commissioner for Information as they gathered experiences from a number of countries, because they are aware of those activities and especially because they highly commended them.

I am also very pleased because we ended our conversation with agreement to continue with communication and cooperation. I believe that through improvement of cooperation we may create, among other things, favourable conditions for possible specialization of people from the Commissioner's Office in this respectable US academic institution."
