An event on occasion of the International Right to Know Day – 28 September, was organized in Belgrade by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, OSCE Mission to Serbia, Coalition for Free Access to Information, the Association of Journalists of Serbia and the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia with the participation of a large number of representatives of the media, citizens' associations, authorities, as well as the members of the diplomatic corps. The audience was addressed by: Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Mr. Michael Uyehara, Protector of Citizens Sasa Jankovic and Rodoljub Sabic Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

The publication IV - Freedom of Information - "The Commissioner's Views and Opinions" was presented at the event by Stanojla Mandic, Deputy Commissioner.

On occasion of the International Right to Know Day, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic stated the following:

The company Google Inc. has informed Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection that it will be recording images in Serbia for Street View this year as well, in the period April-August.

Google plans to update existing images (Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis) as well as to record images of some new cities such as Kragujevac and maybe some towns, depending on weather conditions.

Google has confirmed that in the course of image recording it will fully comply with the requirements, i.e. guidelines the provided by Commissioner on occasion of the first instance of image recording and its readiness to provide further information if necessary.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection marked 28 January, the European Data Protection Day, by holding a public conference at which he presented the main challenges in the field of personal data protection.

The participants of the conference, in addition to the Commissioner, were also addressed by Ambassador Michael Davenport, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia and Tim Cartwright, Head of the Council of Europe Mission in Belgrade.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the NGO Freedom of Information Coalition, the Association of Serbian Journalists and the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia held a meeting today to commend the Right to Know Day, 28 September, with the attendance of numerous representatives from the media, citizens' associations, public authorities and members of the diplomatic chorus. The addresses at the meeting were made by H.E. Peter Burkhard, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Mr. Sasa Jankovic, the Ombudsman, and Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

The meeting was an opportunity to introduce the publication III - Free Access to Information – "Commissioner's Attitudes and Opinions", which was presented by Ms Stanojla Mandic, Deputy Commissioner.
