COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, received today a group of representatives of residents of 100 and 102 Mileve Maric Ajnstajn Street in Dr. Ivan Ribar community.

In talks with the Commissioner, the representatives of residents pointed to numerous problems they have been facing since they moved in, emphasizing that the "unpleasant odour" of buildings was not the only problem; there were also many problems regarding inadequate craftsmanship and poor quality of equipment. The residents were particularly worried because there were extremely worrying indications about the presence of toxic materials which present serious risk for health. They stated that the specific reason they contacted the Commissioner were problems in communication with the Building Directorate of Serbia, which denied them access to the requested information, i.e. relevant documents, although they submitted multiple requests. In that regard, they also filed an official complaint with the Commissioner against the Building Directorate.

Without prejudicing the outcome of this specific case, the Commissioner emphasized the need and the duty of all competent authorities to prevent possible further negative consequences for the residents and to eliminate any dilemmas by giving them access to all relevant documents in accordance with the law.
