The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data protection will today be solemnly awarded with the special recognition of the Informatics Association of Serbia - "Plaque for extraordinary contribution to the field of informatics in 2016".
This recognition was awarded for innovative application of IKT in the business environment, namely for the Open Data Portal of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data protection.
The Commissioner is our first state organ which has made data on its activities completely available to public, which means that they can be used without restrictions, they are machine-readable, timely published and free of chargehttp://data.poverenik.rs/ ili http://otvorenipodaci.poverenik.rs/ .
Upon receiving the award, the Commissioner Rodoljub Šabić expressed his satisfaction and stated:
"This award is of great importance to me and to my associates. If you decide to enrich the activities of an institution with new IT solutions, than it is naturally to try to do it in the best possible way; in our country, it is hard to think of a better and more valuable recognition than this one, awarded by the Informatics Association of Serbia
In addition, I am very satisfied with the fact that we have put the Portal into operation without spending budget funds; it was financed from the funds for a project financed by a foreign donor (USAID); the fast and flawless export of data from the archives of the Commissioner confirms that this institution has accurate, high-quality and updated databases. The project was implemented in an excellent cooperation with civil sector activists and our experts, according to usual practice in the work of the Commissioner.
