Today on problems relating to the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance had talks with officials empowered to proceed according to the Law and Under-Secretaries of most of the Republic Ministries.

A special attention was committed to the issue of public releasing of information on work.  

On that occasion, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic said:

«In democratic world the exercising of right of free access to information obligatorily implies two things. First of all, certainly, the right of citizens and the public to get the requested information when required, and along with it, also the right for specific, most relevant information to be available to the public without any particular request.

We have already made one small step on that path. Following the campaign, and after several direct and public interventions by the Commissioner, finally all the Ministries have published Information Booklets on their work and have made them available to the public also via Internet presentation.

Of course, in that way has only been fulfilled the obligation and easier part of work has been done. What is much important, and much harder to provide, is to make in nearest future those Information Booklets really actual and updated, and to include in them such information the public is really interested in.

We have introduced to the officials in charge of the Ministries the observations of the Service of the Commissioner on the quality of the contents of Information Booklets. I will continue to insist on establishing and application of certain standards as for the publishing of information, in order to put the Information Booklets on public authorities' work into the function of a genuine exercising of the right of free access to information of public interest."
