On June 9, 2026, the workshop "Improving access to environmental information" was held, organized by the OSCE Mission in Serbia in cooperation with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

The workshop brought together undergraduate and master's students of the Faculty of Political Sciences, the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, and the Union Faculty of Law. It was conducted as a practical, interactive gathering dedicated to the right to access environment-related information and the importance of public participation in decision-making in this area. Through practical exercises in writing requests for access to information, collaborative group presentations, and discussions, students had the opportunity to learn how to apply this right in practice.

Most of the day was dedicated to practical work; students prepared specific requests for access to environmental information and learned from practical examples how to respond to such requests, what institutions' obligations are, and how environmental awareness is raised through the exercise of this right.

The participants were greeted at the beginning of the workshop by Mr. Marcel Peško, head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, emphasizing that timely and transparent environmental information helps citizens make informed decisions, strengthens public trust, and contributes to a more effective response to security risks related to the environment and climate change.

The leaders of the workshop were Slavoljupka Pavlović, Acting Assistant Secretary General, Sector for Complaints and Enforcement in the Area of Access to Information, and Dina Đorđević, journalist and editor-in-chief of the Center for Investigative Journalism of Serbia (CINS).
