The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection sent a letter to the Serbian Prime Minister in which he suggested that the Government delete from the text of the Regulation on Office Operations of Public Administration Bodies the recently adopted provisions which provide for the classification label "Official" as one of the possible labels of confidentiality affixed to documents in addition to those provided for by the Law on Data Confidentiality (Internal, Confidential, Top Secret and Official Secret).

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has inspected compliance with the Law on Personal Data Protection at Eurobank a.d. Beograde of Belgrade, upon learning that banking and other documents containing customers' information were found in the immediate vicinity of a branch of that bank, next to a garbage disposal bin.

In late July, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, after appeared in the public the information that the Tax Administration would, in determining the tax on rental apartments, process personal data of the citizens collected in the population census, held by the Serbian Statistical Office, initiated a supervision procedure over the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection in both of these institutions.

As soon as in the initial phase of the Commissioner's supervision procedure (he already informed the public about it) in talks with the directors of both institutions he got assurances that such processing of personal data has neither been made nor planned, as they are aware of its unlawfulness. The procedure further continued requesting from both institutions to declare in writing of all specific, relevant issues.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection received from the company "Perutnina Ptuj - Topiko" doo Backa Topola a letter informing him about the compliance with the received warning. The Commissioner warned the company against unlawful processing of personal data after the suspension procedure regarding the polygraph testing which was conducted on a group of employees.

In its letter "Perutnina Ptuj - Topiko" doo gives assurances that the processing of personal data was carried out with good intentions, unconscious of the unlawfulness, expresses regret about the polygraph testing and confirms it will fully comply with the Commissioner's warning.
