Representatives of government authorities are increasingly addressing the Commissioner for Information of Public importance and Personal Data Protection about their dilemmas in connection with allowing public access, including on their official Internet presentations, to personal data of individual candidates for heads of institutions, public enterprises and other public authorities in public job announcements.
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has initiated the supervision procedure over the implementation and imposing of the Personal Data Protection Act by the public communications networks and services' operators.
The supervision procedure shall cover all public communication networks' operators, in total 462 of them, as recorded in the records of the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications, to whom a questionnaire has been sent, on which they shall have to reply within 30 days from the date of receiving it.
In relation to that, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic has stated the following:
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, evaluates based on reactions of journalists' associations UNS and NUNS to the „news" that all the Information from the process of explanatory screening within the EU negotiations has been proclaimed as secret, and that as such they would be inaccessible to the public, as well as based on a larger number of individual addresses by the journalists, due to the same reason, that the attempts of such limitation of the right of the public would be without any valid legal ground.
In relation to that, the Commissioner, Rodoljub Sabic stated as follows:
Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has submitted to the Constitutional Court of Serbia a proposal for evaluation of constitutionality and legality of the Rule Book on the Method of Keeping and Contents of the Public Contracts' Register.
