Повереник за информације од јавног значаја и заштиту података о личности поводом реаговања новинарских удружења УНС-а и НУНС-а, на „вест" да су све информације из процеса експланаторног скрининга у оквиру преговора са ЕУ проглашене тајним и да ће као такве бити недоступне јавности, као и поводом већег броја појединачних обраћања новинара из истог разлога, оцењује да би покушаји таквог ограничавања права јавности били без било каквог ваљаног правног основа.

С тим у вези, Повереник Родољуб Шабић је изјавио и следеће:

In the absence of strategically devised approach to the issues of personal data protection, the Government of Serbia adds to some of its activities, and to otherwise numerous existing problems in this field some new ones. Laws and by-laws are prepared and proposed in which personal data protection is treated in a way non-harmonized with the Constitution and the Personal Data Protection Act.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection believes it is necessary to ensure consistent application of the legislative provisions pertaining to liability for violation of the public's rights and failure to fulfil the responsibilities towards the public, i.e. the citizens, by all those entities that exercise power or manage public money and public resources on their behalf.

The Commissioner warns that the virtual lack of any liability for breaches of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance will inevitably have adverse impact on all efforts to combat corruption, crime and abuse. Emphasising that issues were particularly revealing when it came to access to information on the operations of state-owned/public enterprises, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic said:

Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Mr. Rodoljub Sabic has received the "Award for Institution with the Highest Level of Anti-Corruption Integrity in Serbia", awarded by the Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI).
