Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković are participating in the international conference "Privacy Symposium 2024", held in Venice from June 10 to 14. This conference brings together the biggest experts in the field of personal data protection and discusses important topics related to privacy protection and personal data protection. On 12 June, the third day of the conference, the Commissioner participated as a panelist in the Panel discussion "Strengthening the Cooperation between Personal Data Protection Authorities in Countries that are not Members of the European Union". Beside the Commissioner, in this Panel, the panelists were: Professor Lela Dzhanashvili, Head of the Data Protection Service of Georgia, Gilad Semama, Head of the Privacy Protection Authority of Israel, Patricia Gigante, from the San Marino Data Protection Authority, and Olivier Mather, from the European Data Protection Supervisor. Katerina Lenmann from the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) moderated the Panel.

On June 6, 2024, training was held for the Ministry of Interior (MUP) representatives in the Šabac Police Department. 52 police lieutenants and police officers attended the training held by Marin Cetinić and Marko Milošević from the Sector for Education and Certification in the Commissioner's Office and Dragan Obradović from the MUP.

At the training, the focus was on non-compliance with the regulations regarding the erasure of personal data from the MUP official records, while pointing out individual cases of unauthorized personal data processing by MUP representatives through illustrative examples from the Commissioner's practice. The present representatives of the Ministry of Interior were most interested in personal data processing during the investigation, and clarifying the dilemmas about the procedure for collecting data from various open and closed databases and tracking document access. The trainings, held in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia, have included seven police departments so far from the territory of the entire RS.

Commissioner Milan Marinović, Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković, and Acting Assistant Secretary-General from the Sector for Complaints and Enforcement in the Field of ​​Access to Information Slavoljupka Pavlović met at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government with the new Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Jelena Žarić Kovačević and her associates. In an open and substantive discussion, it was mutually assessed that amendments to the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance should be made as soon as possible to resolve the existing situation with the abuse of the right to access information of public importance and restore this right. It was concluded that cooperation between the Ministry and the Commissioner should be continued and strengthened to benefit all citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
