Training within Commissioner's Jurisdiction for Healthcare Employees

In the period from May 13 to 22, the accredited lecturers of the Commissioner's Office, Nataša Mirjanić, Marin Cetinić and Marko Milošević, held five trainings for employees in Healthcare institutions in West Bačka (Sombor), North Banat and Central Banat (Zrenjanin), South Banat (Vršac), Raška ( Kraljevo) and Rasina (Kruševac) administrative district. 125 people from 56 institutions attended these trainings.

The aim of the training in the field of access to information was to eliminate doubts in handling requests that are often filed by information seekers through authorized lawyers, with special reference to the types of data that are provided, as well as procedural issues of handling these requests. In the area of personal data protection, as the Health Sector is planned for regular inspections, the emphasis was on getting familiar with the personal data protection provisions and how they reflect on the health regulations, the obligation to appoint a Data Protection Officer, keeping records and eliminating the most common errors in filling in checklists. In the discussion, questions were raised about providing health documentation copies to competent authorities, and persons who are abroad, as well as the handling of this matter when documentation is requested by insurance companies and authorized lawyers.

During April and May, 15 trainings were held for healthcare employees in different administrative districts of Serbia to raise awareness among this target group and prevent violations of regulations under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner.

Conclusion of Agreements On Cooperation Between Commissioner and University of Belgrade Faculty of Law

On May 24, 2024, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, prof. Dr Zoran Mirković and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Milan Marinović concluded the General Agreement on Cooperation, as well as the Agreement on the Organization of Studies for Knowledge Innovation. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the so-far successful cooperation and their belief in the success of the new study program.; Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković and Prof. Dr. Dušan Popović also attended the meeting.

The University of Belgrade - Faculty of Law launched a new study program - Studies for Knowledge Innovation in the Law on Personal Data Protection field, in cooperation with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection. In addition to professors from the Faculty of Law, the classes will be conducted by the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and representatives of the Commissioner's Office, as well as respected experts from practice.

Enrollment in the Studies for Knowledge Innovation in the Law on Personal Data Protection field will be in September, while classes will begin in the second half of October 2024.

Training Course: Free Access to Information of Public Importance Legislation and Practice (Novi Pazar)

In the Cultural Center hall, in Novi Pazar on Tuesday, May 21, starting at 9:30 a.m., a training course called "Free Access to Information of Public Importance, Legislation and Practice" was held for more than 65 Information Officers from various public authorities.

The training was held by Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Milan Marinović, Rosana Lemut - Strle lecturer from Slovenia, and Assistant Secretary-General - Sector for Complaints and Enforcement in the Field of Access to Information of Public Importance Slavoljupka Pavlović. This training was conducted with the support of the multi-donor project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia" (EU FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS) financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), whereas the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is in charge for its implementation.

The training aims to familiarize Information Officers with the current legal solutions (in the EU and the Republic of Serbia) and to train them for the proper application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance.

Field trainings, which are implemented as part of project support in four selected local self-government units, are particularly important for raising the capacity of the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and also aim to raise awareness among the general public and inform citizens in this area.

Three More Trainings Held for Healthcare Employees from South Bačka and Srem Districts

In the period from May 8 to 10, three more trainings were held for employees in health institutions from the territory of the South Bačka and Srem administrative districts by accredited lecturers Marko Milošević, Marin Cetinić and Nataša Mirjanić. These trainings, which are held in cooperation with the Chamber of Healthcare Institutions of Serbia, aim to continue raising the awareness of healthcare employees about the rights under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner.

The focus of the training on the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection was on preparations for the upcoming regular inspections, specifically on how to fill in the questionnaire on the Commissioner's checklists, while the emphasis of the training on the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance was on providing information about the name and last name as well as other data about employees when acting on a request for free access to information of public importance. Around fifty employees attended these trainings.
