Two-day Training Held "Better Protection of Personal Data Processing"

The importance of improving data processing inspection methods and methodology will contribute to the quality of work of the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, which was highlighted at the two-day training, organized as part of the project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia" financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), whereas the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is in charge for its implementation.

Milan Marinović, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, as well as Maja Vitaljić, a key GIZ expert, spoke about the importance of raising the quality and improving personal data processing, while Rosana Lemut Strle, EU expert on personal data protection, shared with the participants the EU experience on methods of planning and implementing training on the personal data processing. Sanja Unković, Deputy Commissioner - for personal data protection, spoke about the importance of improving the methods and methodology in the process of performing inspection supervision.

Special attention during the training was devoted to the preparation of the annual inspection supervision plan and its implementation based on violation reports, as well as the determination of goals, priorities, assessment, and reporting methods. Referring to the inspection supervision strategies and tools, methods of obtaining information, monitoring the inspection checklist, as well as checking information and data, the focus was put on key activities in the process of inspection supervision of personal data protection.

The importance of participation in the procedure, the imposition of measures to ensure compliance, but also the monitoring of the implementation of the ordered measures, greatly contributes to raising the capacity of all subjects in the personal data protection system, which, in a broader context, is also one of the goals of the training.

Commissioner's Office Held Training for Association of Institutes of Serbia Representatives

Today, the Office of the Commissioner held a thematic training in the field of the Law on Personal Data Protection, at the request of the Association of Institutes of Serbia. The purpose of the training was to get acquainted with the provisions of the Law and to eliminate doubts about its application.

The training was held by the accredited lecturers from the Commissioner's Office Aleksandra Lakićević, Marko Milošević, Marina Grbić, and Marin Cetinić.

Members of PAR group designate representative for Republic of Serbia in accordance with Personal Data Protection Law

On February 1, 2023, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection received a written decision from the members of the PAR Group (PAR Technology Corporation, ParTech Inc, Punchh Inc, AccSys LLC, PAR Payment Services LLC) based in the United States of America, in which these companies designate its representative for the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the Law on Personal Data Protection.

The representative of these companies for the Republic of Serbia is the Law Office; Stanković & Partners, based in Belgrade, 19/2 Njegoševa Street.

In accordance with the law, the Commissioner or another person may address this representative, besides/instead of thеsе companies, regarding all issues related to the processing of personal data, in order to ensure compliance with the provisions of this law.

Once again, the Commissioner appeals to other foreign companies that have the obligation to designate their representative in the Republic of Serbia, compliant with the Law on Personal Data Protection, to fulfill the same obligation and thus show awareness of the obligation to respect the rule of law and privacy of their users.

Commissioner's Office Held Training from both Laws within its Jurisdiction

On February 10, 2023, the Office of the Commissioner held two separate trainings from both laws covering the jurisdiction of the Commissioner for information of public importance and personal data protection.

Accredited lecturers of the Commissioner's Office, Sofija Radojičić and Mirela Zozi Jeković held a professional training on the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance to employees of the Urban Planning Institute of Belgrade. A special focus of the training was on amendments to the Law in the part related to misdemeanor liability as well as the obligation to create Information Booklets on the platform launched by the Commissioner, the Unique Information System of Information Booklets. Employees had the opportunity to get answers to their questions and to resolve dilemmas related to requests they receive from information seekers.

Proactive access to information has been improved by increasing the number of authorities that are obliged to publish the Information Booklet which leads to the increased number of information that will be available to citizens in this particular way. For the first time, citizens will be able to find all this information in one place for all public authorities.

The second training was held in Novi Sad by the accredited lecturer Dragana Stojković in the field of personal data protection. The training was for employees of provincial authorities, aiming to strengthen the capacity of the participants to apply the LPDP, their familiarization with the general rules and obligations for Data Controllers, i.e. how to fulfill them properly, what is the role of the data protection officer, and the importance of special laws that regulate the processing, etc.
