Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection met the Delegation of the Council of Europe consisting of Anna Rurka, President of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe, Irina Sahakyan Vetter and Mary Ann Hennessey, Deputy Head of the CE Mission and Head of the Civil Society Division of CE Mission to Belgrade.

The main topic of the discussion was the attitude of state institutions towards the non-governmental sector and the media, and Commissioner’s experiences and assessments in this regard.

The CE’s representatives were interested in information about the work of the Commissioner's Office in both fields of its competence, namely the public’s right to know and personal data protection, particularly in information on the inadequate attitude of other state bodies to the their obligations to implement both laws protected by the Commissioner.

A special subject of interest were chronic problems and worrying failures and delays of the executive and legislative authorities regarding the harmonization of the normative order of the Republic of Serbia in the field of personal data protection with democratic standards.
