COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Today, Commissioner Milan Marinović met with representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Media Analysts Marek Mracka and Dumitru Lazur, with whom he discussed the adopted amendments to the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, the Commissioner's cooperation with the media, along with the upcoming election process in Serbia from the aspect of personal data protection.

Commissioner Marinović said that by adopting these changes, the institution gained greater powers and that it started the reorganization of the institution itself. Also, these changes will contribute to reducing the abuse of this right and increase the proactivity of public authorities' work. He pointed out his expectations that the results of the adopted changes will be reflected in a more efficient exercise of the public's right to know, which should be stated in the Annual Report that the commissioner is yet to submit to the National Assembly for 2022.
