COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Poverenik 23 5 2022"The development of new technologies, but also the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, have increased the supply and demand of various goods and services in the digital sphere. There are many advantages of online business, but such an environment, along with a lack of knowledge, also brings various risks. The Commissioner is working intensively to raise the awareness of both citizens and data controllers - various institutions and economic entities.

In addition to the Commissioner, the actors in the field of personal data protection are also Data Protection Officers appointed by slightly more than 4,000 entities in Serbia. "Companies that have fulfilled their legal obligation have thus contributed to increasing the security of personal data of our citizens," said Commissioner Milan Marinovic, at a meeting called "Ambassadors of Responsible Business in Digital Age" held yesterday in Belgrade.

The meeting was organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Propulsion in cooperation with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and the Corporate Compliance Association, as part of the New Literacy program.

The panel "Everything you know about me" was held at the meeting, where Marko Antić, acting Assistant Secretary-General in the Sector for Supervision of Personal Data Protection in the Commissioner’s Office, gave a talk.

The Responsible Business Ambassadors initiative brings together leading companies and business associations in Serbia with the aim of bringing companies in line with their legal obligations and international standards and also educating consumers about their digital rights.
