Commissioner Milan Marinović, Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković, and representatives of the Commissioner's Office are participating today in a panel discussion: Monitoring the implementation of the new law on Personal Data Protection in Niš. The panel is attended by representatives of Data Controllers, civil society organizations, and the media.

The panel discussion is intended to draw conclusions through the exchange of experience, opinions, and ideas on how to improve the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection and its amendments.

During the panel discussion, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Milan Marinović, presented a report on the work of this institution for the previous two years. Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković explained the position and competencies of the Commissioner with an emphasis on personal data protection. Other participants from the Office of the Commissioner were representatives from the Sector for Supervision of Personal Data Protection, and the Sector for Harmonization of Regulations and Normative Affairs. It is also planned to hold 15-panel discussions, in different local self-government units.

This project is implemented with the support of the multi-donor project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia", financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) while the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is responsible for implementing project activities related to personal data protection.
