The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection considers as absolutely correct and supports the attitude of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) that it is unacceptable that journalists or the media which correctly reported on the content of announcements or documents made by public authorities pay fines or indemnification because they allegedly dishonoured and defaced somebody.

Expressing his opinion that the possibility of such punishment is tantamount to indirect censorship and that by causing justified concerns for owners or editors of the media it also activates auto-censorship mechanisms, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following:

The Association of Magistrates of the Republic of Serbia commended on 22 June 2012 the Misdemeanour System Day.

On that occasion, the Steering Committee of the Association of Magistrates of the Republic of Serbia decided to award on Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, a letter of thanks for „the exceptional contribution in establishment of the rule of law and improvement of the operations and status of magistrates as an integral part of the judiciary system of the Republic of Serbia".

The letter of thanks was ceremonially presented to Mr. Rodoljub Sabic on Friday, 22 June 2012, at a conference organized to honour that occasion held at the Media Centre in Belgrade.

The European Movement in Serbia has, in cooperation with the International European Movement, been awarding the "Contribution of the Year Award" for eleven years.

This year, the "Contribution of the Year Award" was presented to Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, for his work and the opinions he expressed which, according to the European Movement in Serbia, contributed significantly in the previous year to the European integration process and the promotion of European ideas and values in Serbia.

The award was ceremonially presented to Mr. Rodoljub Sabic on Wednesday, 20 June 2012, at the premises of the Aero Club in Belgrade.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection said today that all employers who use or intend to use biometric data processing measures to record workplace attendance by employees or to log working hours must take into account that such measures could in most cases be unjustified and contrary to the law.

Emphasizing that such measures, of which processing of employees' finger prints is most frequently used, even when they are used with formal consent constitute, as a rule, inadmissible data processing, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following:
