Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has through persons authorized for supervision in the period from  April 18, 2011 to May 9, 2011 implemented supervision over executing the basic obligations from the Personal Data Protection Act in 33 agencies, institutes and other organizations on the republic level.

The supervision has been performed solely in the part prescribing the obligation of the authority to form records on personal data collections in a prescribed manner, and to deliver them to the Central Register for entry.

The Commissioner has sent to 31 authority adequate warning notice, and against the managers of 13 authorities requests shall be submitted for starting infringement procedure.

In relation to that, the Commissioner, Rodoljub Šabić, said as follows:

Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Rodoljub Šаbić has today, in the letters sent to Chairmen of the  Association of Journalists of Serbia  (Udruženje novinаrа Srbije  - UNS), Independent Association of the Journalists of Serbia (Nezаvisno udruženje novinаrа Srbije - NUNS) and of Independent Association of the Journalists of Vojvodina (Nezаvisno društvo novinаrа Vojvodine - NDNV), congratulated to all journalists in Serbia the  3^rd May, World Media Freedom Day. By sending to the journalists best wishes for success in their work, the  Commissioner confirmed the readiness and obligation to help them implement their important social function. Stressing that the construction of democratic society inevitably means adequate position and the role of journalists and of media, the  Commissioner evaluated that it is necessary for the state to do many things on that plan.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection said that passing of the Compulsory Instruction on the Conditions of Use and Maintenance of the Video Surveillance System for City Roads and Crossroads for the City of Belgrade by the Ministry of Internal Affairs was a constructive and useful response of this Ministry to the Warning he served on it.

In early April, upon supervision of implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection in connection with illegal use of the video recording titled “Near the Belgrade Arena” from the video surveillance system, the Commissioner served on the Ministry of Internal Affairs the Warning with 14 counts, stating that lack of necessary procedures and certain safety omissions resulted in this incident.

Commending the Ministry of Internal Affairs for passing the Compulsory Instruction and taking certain protective technical measures, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following:

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection passed a ruling banning further personal data processing under the so-called “Centralized School Database and the System for Notification of Parents about Pupils’ Grades”.

The Provincials Secretariat for Education of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the company WDW Soft d.o.o. were ordered to disable any access to the database from local and external networks immediately upon receipt of the ruling and to delete personal data pertaining to a total of 200.271 persons (pupils, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff) within 10 days of receipt of the ruling. In that regard, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following:
