The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection met with the representatives of the Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Petar Kovacevic, the Director of the Agency. During the conversation the two sides exchanged experiences on legislative arrangements and experiences in putting them into practice in both states. They have also reached an agreement on enhancement of bilateral cooperation between the Commissioner and the Agency, as well as mutual contribution to the regional cooperation in the field of Personal Data Protection.

Estimating that the meeting was very useful, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said:

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection expressed his concern at the fact that the Basic Public Prosecutor in the city of Novi Sad indicted the journalists of the "Nacionalni gradjanski" daily newspapers for the alleged disclosure of a secret.

While stating that many individuals with good reason would consider this action of the Prosecution as the infringement on the freedom of the press and the right of the public to know and be informed, the Commissioner warned that, if there is a reason for that, the responsible for the revelation of the secret should be sought among state officials and personnel.

In this regard, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also stated the following:

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection sent a Warning to the "Dr Dragisa Misovic" Health Care Center in Cacak in which he stated that fingerprinting employees in order to control their use of work hours constitutes an unlawful personal data processing according to Article 8 of the Law on Personal Data Protection. The Commissioner ordered the Center to inform him of the measures undertaken in order to remove the aforementioned determined irregularities in 15 days time, so that the Commissioner can apply further measures if need be.

In this regard, the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also stated the following:

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection emphasized once again that all public utility services at the republic, provincial and local levels must treat citizens' personal data legally and use them only for the purposes set by the law and that they could use citizens' personal data for other purposes exclusively with previously obtained consent from the citizens concerned.
