Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner at 3rd International Congress of Lawyers in Bled

Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković participate in the 3rd International Congress of Lawyers (ICOOLAW Bled 2024), organized by the Kec Group, held in Bled, Slovenia from February 27 to March 2. Many prominent prosecutors, lawyers, mediators, and lawyers employed in companies in the public and private sectors, as well as Commissioners and Directors of Data Protection Agencies from the region, attend this Congress which, this year, is dedicated to the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in European countries. The Congress's central themes focus on GDPR and artificial intelligence, privacy on the internet, personal data processing and management, and the future of data protection.

On the third day of the Congress, Commissioner Milan Marinović, Director of the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency Zdravko Vukić, and Director of the Personal Data Protection Agency in BiH Dr. Dragoljub Reljić participated in the panel discussion "Data Protection in the Countries of the Region", moderated by Denis Tula, an Information Technology Law expert. The panelists exchanged valuable views and experiences in the field of supervision of the application of laws regulating personal data protection in their countries, differences between the public and private sectors in the implementation of laws, application of misdemeanor provisions, and the challenges that biometric processing of personal data poses before supervisory bodies.

Bled 2024

Five-Day Training for Data Protection Officers at NAJU Completed

During the five days of the training, in the period from February 8-27, the participants of the training - Data Protection Officers from various public authorities, had the opportunity to improve their current knowledge and remove doubts about the application of Personal Data Protection Law. About thirty participants brushed up their knowledge of the Law with new examples from the practice of both the Commissioner and other authorities. In addition to the said topics, the emphasis was on the application of data protection measures along with advice for its practical use. Dividing into different working groups, solving tasks, and the final test, allowed the training participants to take an active part in the training program.

This training was developed as part of the World Bank Project "Training Services for Data Protection Officers and Raising Awareness of Civil Servants in accordance with the GDPR, the Law on Personal Data Protection, and the Law on Information Security of the Republic of Serbia" whose beneficiary is Office for IT and E-Government. The project is implemented by a consortium led by Ernest&Young d.o.o. Belgrade, with the support of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, and the National Academy for Public Administration.

Milan Tomanović and Marko Milošević represented the Commissioner's Office, in the role of training evaluators, while the main lecturers were Nevena Ružić, Jelena Simić, and Igor Ćika. Within this project, several more trainings will be held, which should include an overall of 150 Data Protection Officers.

The goal of this project, as well as the aforementioned training, is to improve the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection and the Law on Information Security.

International Conference of Global Association of Mobile Operators - Barcelona 2024

Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković are participating in the International Conference of the Global Association of Mobile Operators (GSMA Mobile World Congress 2024), held from February 26 to 29, 2024 in Barcelona. At this impressive gathering with thousands of participants from all over the world, significant issues are discussed concerning the direction in which modern technology development is moving, especially artificial intelligence, and its consequences on global society.
Although the vast majority of participants come from the world of information technology, with especially notable representatives of the largest big-tech companies among them, there was a word about the risks that the development of these technologies inevitably brings. 

Barcelona 2024

Training for Representatives of Serbian Ministry of Defense on Free Access to Information of Public Importance

On February 23, Nataša Mirjanić, an accredited lecturer at the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, held a training on the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance for the employees of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia. 54 members of the ministry attended the training. The goal of the training, in addition to the correct application of the Law, was also to solve problems that arise during the regular daily handling of requests for free access to information of public importance. The participants of the training were specifically familiarized with the deadlines for handling requests and complaints, as well as about the timely delivery of replying submissions. The course of the training was followed by a long discussion where numerous doubts about the application of the Law were resolved.
